With a cloth, apply the spirits and wipe the stain clean to get rid of the remaining oil. Hose the spot down completely to make sure that no trace of oil and mineral spirit remains.

With regard to lawn burns, prevention is better than cure. Keep all bare flames away from your yard and don't allow anyone to smoke on your grass unless you have an ashtray handy for this purpose.
